This site is based closely on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time fantasy series. We try to keep to his descriptions as much as possible, without plagiarizing his ideas and storylines.
For the ease of role playing, we're following the 'modern' trend of the books - what with saidin being cleansed and Tarmon Gai'don approaching - but we have several very basic changes. First off, the White Tower is whole.
For years I have been a big fan of Robert Jordan's Wheel of time series. I've also been a fan of roleplaying/writing...mostly what I had wrote were about dragons and dragon riding. But for a long time now I thought about making a roleplaying site based on the Wheel of Time series.
You will not find any of the canon characters here though, unless used as a NPC (Non-Roleplaying Character). No...here you will create your own characters, and write them into the story. Yes we will had a Dragon Reborn...but the character will NOT have the 'Rand Al'Thor' name. There will only be one Dragon Reborn, one Dark One, one Nae'Blis (Leader of the Forsaken, counted as second only to the Great Lord of the Dark) only thirteen Forsaken, etc...
You will also find that there will not be any characters related to the original canon characters of the book. So no daughters/sons/cousins/nieces/nephews/uncles/aunts/mother/father/brother/sister to any of the canon characters. All characters here will be the original creations of their writers.
I'm not a fan of using canon characters for any roleplay...it just doesn't feel right to me.
But as always...any references used from the books...such as being an Aes Sedai, Dragon Reborn, Damane, etc...anything used from the books will remain the property of the late Robert Jordan. If I see anyone taking the name of any of his characters, or taking anything from the books and claiming the works for themselves, will be banned from this site without question.
Robert Jordan was dedicated to his work...in order to bring to us...his fans...his outstanding writings. He even went so far as to thinking ahead, creating and leaving behind notes that would finish his Wheel of Time series. Originally, he had meant for the series to be finished in one last book, but he had too much in his notes to beable to finish in one book, and it seems that there will still be two more books still to come in order to finish the series. Below you'll find info about Robert Jordan.
Biography
Jordan was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He served two tours in Vietnam (from 1968 to 1970) with the United States Army as a helicopter gunner. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star with "V" and bronze oak leaf cluster, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses with palm. After returning from Vietnam he attended The Citadel where he received an undergraduate degree in physics. After graduating he was employed by the United States Navy as a nuclear engineer. He began writing in 1977. He was a history buff and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, poker, chess, pool, and pipe collecting. He described himself as a "High Church" Episcopalian and received communion more than once a week. He lived with his wife Harriet McDougal, who works as a book editor (currently with Tor Books; she was also Jordan's editor) in a house built in 1797.[/i]
Illness[/i][/u]
On March 23, 2006, Jordan disclosed in a statement that he had been diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis, and that with treatment, his median life expectancy was four years, though he said he intended to beat the statistics. He later posted on his Dragonmount blog to encourage his fans not to worry about him and that he intended to have a long and fully creative life, working for another 30 years.
He began chemotherapy treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in early April 2006. Jordan was enrolled in a study using the drug Revlimid just approved for multiple myeloma but not yet tested on primary amyloidosis.
Jordan died at approximately 2:45 p.m. EDT on September 16, 2007, and a funeral service was held for him on Wednesday, September 19, 2007. His life will be the subject of the feature length documentary The Wit of the Staircase: The Life and Works of Robert Jordan. Jordan was cremated and his ashes buried at an Episcopal church plot outside Charleston.[/i]
The Wheel of Time[/i][/u]
Main article: The Wheel of Time
Jordan published eleven books of a projected twelve total in the main sequence of the Wheel of Time series. Reviewers and fans of the earlier books noted a slowing of the pace of events in the last few installments due to the expansion of scale of the series as a whole.
Due to his health problems, Jordan did not work at full force on the final installment A Memory of Light (later split into three volumes beginning with The Gathering Storm), but blog entries confirmed that he continued work on it until his death, and he shared all of the significant plot details with his family not long before he died. He maintained that in doing so the book will get published even if "the worst actually happens". On December 7, 2007 Tor Books announced that Brandon Sanderson had been chosen to finish the Wheel of Time series. Jordan's widow chose him after reading Mistborn: The Final Empire[/i]
The Wheel of Time books were originally written by Robert Jordan, unfortunately he wasn't able to personally finish them before his untimely death on September 16th 2007, the good thing was that he had thought ahead, leaving behind notes upon notes for another to finish his books. So even though Brandon Sanderson will be the one who actually finishes the books...I feel...as most likely many feels, they were still finished by Robert Jordan himself.
For many of us, Robert Jordan still lives on within our hearts...as well as through his writings. The finished books will still be in Robert Jordan's words, just written by another.
Brandon Sanderson did a remarkable job on The Gathering storm, and I suspect he'll do even better on the final books.
This site is for all who loved the Wheel of Time series, and dream of being an actual character in that series...now is your chance...come join us and let the magic of the Wheel of Time live on. Let Robert Jordan live on through us.[/i]
